This Is What Happens When You Don’t Know What You Want

I have seen a lot of people go down this path without even knowing what they are doing to themselves.  It’s just really sad when you think about it.

A path of shallow existence, where nothing happens as a result of your own plan or design.  You just wake up in the morning and sleep at night while others decide what becomes of you.

Most people opt for the easy way out of life. Might be because of financial problems or just a lack of self- discipline. But whatever the case may be, one thing is sure. Until you take the time to really decide what you want, specifically and in the quantity you want it, you will never recognize it. Even if it is staring at you in the face.

You could start an experiment with yourself just to find out how completely clueless most people are when they are asked what they want.

The irony is most people know what they don’t want so when they see it, they recognize it. But the vital information isn’t what you don’t want. It is what you want!

For instance, you want to be rich right? But have you ever asked yourself exactly how rich you want to be? I bet you haven’t. Do you want to be worth a billion dollars and afford yacht cruises and luxurious vacations in the most beautiful destinations or you just want to have a couple thousand bucks to be comfortable and not depend on anyone?

It may sound silly. But you need to know exactly what you want. It is as I love to call it; the beginning of life itself.

When you don’t know what you want; this is what happens.

You make a lot of mistakes

Of cause what do you expect? You end up running in circles and trying out not just anything but everything. You obviously have no definite plan so anything that looks good on the outside works for you.

When you don’t know what your interests are and what you should pursue, making a lot of mistakes becomes inevitable.

You actually gamble through life without knowing the stakes

I understand that life is a risk but it is not a gamble. For those who feel life is a gamble, I believe they should know where to place their bets. They don’t bet to lose. They bet to win. I for one believe that there are less risky ways of achieving your dreams, but if you must gamble, you should be extremely good at it. Your life shouldn’t be determined by luck or chance alone.

You will live a life of pleasing everyone except you

A people pleaser is what you become when you have no opinion of your own. You get tossed to the left and to the right by those who matter and even those who don’t.  Most times the realization that you are being manipulated doesn’t kick in early. You notice it when it is rather too late to correct.

You need to ask yourself this question. Out of all the decisions you had to take in your life, how many did you take by yourself despite what anyone thinks?

I think that’s a good place to find out if you know what you really want.

You can’t avoid regrets

I hope you don’t sit on a rocking chair on the front porch wondering why you didn’t say no to every other person and yes to your heart. All those times you have the chance. Regret is a terrible place to be and you don’t want to pay a single visit.

Take some time to find out what you really want and stay true to it.
