Sometimes in life, discouragement knocks at our door and we just feel like giving life a break. It doesn’t mean that you’ve not been doing your best or you’ve missed too many opportunities that you can’t make up for lost time.
It certainly doesn’t mean you are the worst at planning or execution of those plans. It is just a phase in your life that you have to go through once in a while. It is not meant to break or cripple you, it is meant to make you a better person.
You are not alone.
Everyone has this experience and no matter how often it comes, it is always difficult to explain why and how it happens.
So if you feel like you are losing your grip on that thing you cherish the most and it seems like you have reached the end of the road; know that you are just at a bridge and all you need to do is cross to a better you.
Life goes on regardless
You are made to endure. You are as strong and as tough as it gets. When you fall down, you don’t stay there. You stand up and continue from where you stopped. That is the only way you can truly be alive and that is the surest route to success.
Fight the discouragement from within.
Your mind is powerful and as such it must be diligently guarded. A lot of discouragement could come from the outside but there is none more dangerous like the one that comes from inside you.
That’s the one you need to fight with all the strength you’ve got. As terrible as the situation looks, you are not done until you are where you aimed at being.
Let the pressure go
Drop it all and take a break. It may be a project, a relationship or a personal skill you are trying to develop. Give it a rest and relieve yourself from that pressure.
By all means, do something completely different to distract yourself. Preferably something you enjoy and you are really good at. This break fuels your zeal and gives you the drive you need to push harder.
Avoid unhealthy comparison
It is easy to feel discouraged when you look at people you started with and they clearly are ahead of you. A lot of thoughts run through you mind and you can’t help but blame yourself. This increases your frustration so it’s best to avoid it.
You may not be where you planned on being but you are not where you started. You are better. You have grown to a different height. You are far more experienced than you were and if that is not progress, then I don’t know what is!
The fact that you had the courage is start is the most important thing.
Do it for you
Most times we take on certain quests and challenges not because we truly had the interest but because we were influenced into them or we took them up to impress others.
When those people show the slightest lost of interest, our motivation dries out.
When you come to understand that the best inspiration comes from you, it won’t bother you even if others change their mind along the way.
Count your blessings instead
No matter what happens, there’s always something to be grateful for. So instead of focusing on your loses, count your blessings and see how truly immeasurable they are.
We just need to accept that somethings are what they are, and all the guilt and regret in the world can’t change that. so just dust yourself and keep going.
You will make it and that’s a promise!
