People think that it requires fate or destiny to succeed. Or that you have to be the most talented person in the room to be successful. But most times events and happenings have shown that this is not true. The one acing the most As in class doesn’t end up being the one coming home with the largest paycheck after all.
The question you ask is that why is it that we have fewer people at the top. Why is it that in business, sports or whatever field that only a fewer percentage take a bulk of the income and enjoy massive success compared to the majority. The higher you climb the ladder of success, the fewer people you’ll meet at the zenith. And this gives cause to deep reasoning on the subject, why do only few people become successful. Here are 5 reasons why only few people become successful.
Success does not come cheap
You can read so many How Tos, dedicate yourself to the habits and intricacies of the wealthy and somehow success still eludes you. At the end of the day it is not simply about strategy, sometimes it is the cost and price that needs to be paid that makes a majority stick to being less successful. They just can’t pay the high price for massive success.
Everyone seems to be doing the same thing
Strategy still counts. We live in a world where everyone wants to have that sense of belonging and acceptance. We are social animals at the end of the day, and we will rather stick to conventional techniques than unconventional ones. To be truly successful you will have to do things a majority is not willing to do or act directly opposite to what a majority is doing. Success is not in what everyone knows. Only a few know what it takes to be massively successful and follow through with actions that direct them towards it.
Many aren’t willing to get out of their comfort zones
I once met a man who was talented and smart. And when I asked him how successful he wanted to become, he said he was okay with where he was at right now. He wasn’t willing to do more. He was simply okay with where he was. To be massively successful, you’ll have to take lot of risks and step out of your comfort zones. Being okay or comfortable is not good enough. You have to start learning how to push yourself to discomfort if you want to be massively successful.
Many do not have the vision
It is so easy to admire icons like Oprah Winfrey or Sheryl Sandberg. But we do not see ourselves becoming like them. We are content with looking at others take the plunge to become really influential and tell us their tales of the hurdles and challenges they faced in becoming successful. Beyond reading their tales, to become successful, we have to learn to create our own vision and see ourselves in high places. You cannot be successful if you do not have the vision and mindset of one who is successful.
Many are not focused on excellence
Paying attention and playing the whole field is not a system many are accustomed with. To be successful you have to treat your quest holistically, you cannot afford to leave anything to chance. You have to act responsibly and show you are willing to pay the price for excellence. Average is not good enough. Unfortunately many do not see this as a prerequisite. They are okay with mediocrity. But mediocrity and average is never a star for what success means.
